The KOLE team is comprised of dedicated artisan professionals who attend to each project with great care and consideration. Role Overview: The Lead Carpenter is responsible for delivering on-site work that meets KOLE’s standards of craftsmanship, efficiency, and client satisfaction. The Lead Carpenter fosters a culture of safety, precision, and pride in workmanship.
Role Responsibilities
Technical & Construction Expertise
Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and measurements.
Manage complex projects, including directing installations, ensuring proper techniques, fit, and finish, from start to finish.
Provide assistance with advanced carpentry tasks, including layout, cutting, assembly, joinery, and finishing.
Delegate site tasks and aid in the setup, operation, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and machinery.
Directing other members of the installation team and assigning tasks as needed.
Identify and recommend improvements to processes, materials, and methods.
Provide mentorship to the team, focusing on developing their skills.
Site Ownership
Help prepare pack lists for the site: materials, tooling, hardware, and other supplies.
Be the first to arrive on site; ensure the materials and plans are ready for the team to start working.
Maintain an organized worksite.
Report end-of-day summaries (with photos) to the team via Connect Team project chats.
Safety
Maintain adherence to safety protocols and minimize risks in the work environment, including ensuring the team is ready to work and mentally present.
Ensure the team is working productively and safely; avoid rushing or cutting corners.
Maintain individual OSHA certification.
Communication
Message Niko with client requests and inquiries when needed, maintaining professionalism and clarity by serving as a liaison.
Customize your communication style and delivery with both clients and team members.
Be able to resolve inquiries, challenges, and conflicts effectively.
Inform the team of the information and guidance to ensure smooth project completion.
Effectively respond to and update Connect Team, email, text, and other written requests for updates.
Flag issues early and propose solutions to keep projects on track.
Demonstrate professional etiquette in all interactions and work environments.
Coach junior team members through challenging or complicated tasks.
Attend relevant administrative meetings with the team.
When needed, help forecast installations ahead of time, during the project planning process.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and work on your feet for prolonged periods (up to 8–10 hours/day); may include stairs, uneven surfaces, or tight spaces.
Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.
Bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach as needed for site tasks.
Safely operate woodworking tools, construction equipment, and machinery.
Tolerate exposure to sawdust, finishing products, varying temperatures, and noise levels typical of construction environments.
Reliable transportation, travel to and work at various job sites.
Qualifications
Minimum 7-10 years of experience in woodworking, carpentry, or construction
At least 1–2 years in a lead/foreman role preferred
High level of familiarity with cabinetry and cabinetry installation
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to job sites.
Proven ability to manage crews and coordinate multiple project elements simultaneously.
Advanced knowledge of woodworking tools, materials, and finishing techniques.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt plans as needed.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Commitment to KOLE’s craftsmanship, brand aesthetic, and client service.
High level of familiarity with the tendencies and scopes of other trades: concrete/masonry, framing, weather sealing, and other key trades.
