Role Summary
: Kole Made is seeking a Production Designer with (5+ years) of experience in technical drawings for manufacturing and production in a wood shop setting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys collaborating with designers and fabricators to bring custom creations to life. In this role, you’ll work closely with our team to translate conceptual designs into precise technical drawings and cut sheets, assist with CNC operations, and build our CNC library. Your expertise will directly impact our ability to produce one-of-a-kind, high-quality custom builds while also exploring new design possibilities.

Location: On-site (Philadelphia-based; regularly reporting to office with some off-site required; remote work occasionally available)
Weekly Schedule-Hours:
Part-time hourly; 20-25 hours per week
Rate: 
$28-34 hourly

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert conceptual visuals into fabrication-ready shop drawings and cut sheets.

  • Create technical and accurate measurement-specific drawings and directions for the team.

  • Conduct site surveys for new projects.

  • Collaborate with project managers and fabricators to ensure designs are optimized for production.

  • Collaborate with installers to ensure designs are optimized for delivery and installation.

  • Help determine and ensure deadlines with the project coordinator.

  • Troubleshoot design and fabrication challenges to improve efficiency.

  • Lead design-related communication with clients and meticulously upkeep documentation.

  • Organize and maintain project files and documentation for streamlined workflows.

  • Complete tasks as assigned by management.

Preferred Skills:

  • Help develop and maintain the SketchUp library.

  • Potentially operate CNC machinery, depending on experience.

  • Familiarity with construction sites and renovations.

  • Familiarity with CAD (Computer Aided Design) and 3D modeling.

  • Excellent client-facing communication skills.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience and portfolio of past work.

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and production software (working knowledge of SketchUp is required). 

  • Strong understanding of cabinetry fabrication techniques and how designs translate into real-world builds.

  • Meticulous attention to detail when creating shop drawings and measurements.

  • Familiarity with woodworking materials, cabinetry methods, hardware and shop machinery.

  • Familiarity with cabinet installation.

  • Familiarity with CNC operations and technical drawing creation.

  • A passion for quality craftsmanship and innovative design.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a creative, agile, technically accurate, and deadline-focused environment.

  • Must have reliable transportation to perform site visits; ideally a valid drivers license and an insured personal vehicle.
