Position Opening: Production Manager

Philadelphia | Full-time

Kole Made is looking to fill the Production Manager role to oversee custom projects and employees in our Brewerytown shop. Tasks include general project management: setting and achieving production goals, ensuring quality control, and materials acquisition and inventory. The Production Manager will work with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and design colleagues to manage projects. This role is responsible for ensuring safety and proper operating standards in our shop.

This is a managerial position that works closely with the General Manager and Owner to advance the work and philosophy of our company, while managing our team of craftspeople. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of experience in shop work, cabinet making, or fine woodworking, though other applicable experience may qualify. Excellent communication skills, people skills and leadership capabilities are necessary.

Essential qualities & skills:

  • Knowledge of and demonstrable experience with woodworking or cabinet making.

  • Experience managing members of a team.

  • Professionalism and leadership skills.

  • Working knowledge of common shop machinery.

  • General regard for design and the ability to interpret shop drawings.

  • Flexibility and adaptability; ability to think on-the-go, manage crisis situations with grace, and set priorities for oneself, the projects, and the shop team. 

  • Customer service skills, professionalism, and emotional awareness.

  • An eye for detail; the Production Manager will approve each project that leaves the shop according to KOLE standards.

  • Ability to drive is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Google Suite and SketchUp is ideal. 3D modeling experience is a plus.

  • Experience with project management tools like Monday, or willingness to learn.

  • CNC operation or ability to learn.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of shop staff and daily production tasks.

  • Managing inventory: organizing receipts, analyzing costs, scheduling deliveries, and paying vendors.

  • Project management: determine and achieve project goals on a given timeline; selecting and ordering specialty materials for production, introducing new projects and corresponding goals to the shop team.

  • Maintain regular communication with co-managers, and provide updates about project progress, scheduling, and administrative needs.

  • Meet regularly with clients in-shop for progress meetings, shop tours, and materials selection.

  • With the Designer, workshop and update project designs to achieve ideal functionality and feasibility.

  • Form and maintain working relationships with our suppliers.

  • Act as facilities lead, coordinating with building neighbors and for deliveries. Ensure our facilities are operating optimally.

  • Maintain a clean and safe worksite, including coordinating and tracking regular machine maintenance with the shop team.

  • Quality and process control for each project that moves through the KOLE shop.

  • Ensure employees are adhering to KOLE standards. Maintain a safe and clean environment at all working hours.

  • Keeping neat records and updating the company calendar to keep staff informed and on-task.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of shop experience.

  • Managerial or leadership experience.

  • A willingness to learn Kole Made’s methodology.

  • Project management skills.

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal. English language proficiency required.

  • Driver’s license.

  • OSHA and CPR certification (obtained or willing to obtain).

  • Ability to read and translate technical and architectural drawings.

  • Experience with or ability to learn in-house management and design tools: Google Suite, SketchUp, CabinetSense, and Monday.

Position details:

  • Schedule: Full-time; M-F 8:00am-4:00pm, with opportunities to work from home.

  • Position Available: Immediately.

  • Location: Philadelphia.

  • Compensation: $52k-60k to start.
